ABOUT US:

Ambarvale Little Athletics Centre (ALAC) is now in our 40th season of competition.

We commenced in 1980 and are one of six clubs that compete in the South West Metropolitian Zone.

We are a friendly, family orientated club promoting Family, Fun & Fitness while ensuring our children get the most out of their athletics experiences.

Our Club uniform consists of a maroon & gold singlet or crop top and navy blue shorts.  Uniforms can be purchased on Friday nights from 5.30pm to 6.00pm at the canteen.  Please note that Club Uniform is compulsory for all athletes U6 - U17 & registration number, Coles patch & age patch must be firmly attached & visible at all times.

Unlike various other sports Little Athletics is parent dependent.  Each Friday night we need assistance from parents to accompany the athletes around the ground to their programmed events.  Parents are also required to help the Age Official with measuring, raking, etc.   Extra help is also needed in the canteen, BBQ, time keeping & starting.

Please note: it is a requirement of this Club that during Friday night competitions a parent

(or a responsible adult with appropriate authority) is present from each family at all times.

The Association also offers the chance to become a recognized Official.  The Officials Scheme has four levels of grading commencing at Club level with D Grade, progressing through to C Grade for Zone level and B & A Grades for State & National level.  For further information please contact a member of the Committee.

Please remember that our Officials, Committee and Coaches are parent volunteers and without them ALAC wouldn’t exist.

Our Athletes aim should be:

  • To have fun each time they compete

  • To improve their performances

  • To be good sports and to make new friends

Our Parents aim should be:

  • To encourage the athletes to enjoy themselves both on and off the track without creating any undue pressure on them to perform

  • To stay off the competition area unless you are signed on as an Official or helper

Our Committee aims include:

  • To provide a friendly competition without pressure, between athletes of the same ages and interests

  • To encourage self-improvement by way of coaching with the help of qualified coaches at the Club

  • To provide the opportunity for athletes to represent our Club at Association Championships

  • To ensure the smooth running of Friday night competition by keeping the oval free of spectators
